Course requirements

Applicants should meet the awarding body’s entry profile and English language expectations where applicable.

  • Learners should be aged 19 or above, have a minimum core of literacy, language, numeracy and ICT, and normally hold at least a Level 3 qualification in their own area of specialism

  • Mature learners over 21 with relevant management experience may also be considered, and learners from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide evidence of English language competency

Assessments

Assessment is coursework-based and criterion-referenced. All units are assessed and internally quality assured by the centre, with external verification by OTHM.

  • Coursework assessment across all mandatory units

  • Pass/Fail grading based on achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria

  • Internal quality assurance by the delivery centre

  • External verification by OTHM

Progression

This Level 5 Certificate provides recognised specialist development in SEND teaching and learning and supports academic and professional progression.
