Course requirements

OTHM does not specify formal entry requirements for this qualification, but centres must ensure learners are suitable for Level 4 study and assessment.

  • Learners must normally be aged 18 or above and have sufficient capability to meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria

  • Learners studying in English who are not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency

Assessments

Assessment is centre-based and evidence-led, with all units requiring learners to meet every learning outcome and assessment criterion to achieve a pass.

  • All units are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by OTHM

  • Assessment methods for the qualification are coursework and portfolio of evidence

  • The knowledge unit is assessed through an essay or case study of approximately 3500 words, while the leadership unit is assessed through reports and work-based planning documents

  • The practice unit is assessed through a reflective account of work, observation of performance, work products and witness testimony, including internal quality assurance of a minimum of two assessors

Progression

Successful completion of this Level 4 qualification supports academic and professional progression in quality assurance, education and related leadership pathways.
