Course requirements

The qualification is designed for learners typically aged 18 and above. Entry is based on prior qualifications or relevant experience, and learners must meet OTHM’s English language expectations where applicable.

  • Relevant Level 4 Diploma or equivalent qualification, or GCE Advanced Level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification

  • Mature learners over 21 with relevant management experience may be accepted, and learners from non-majority English-speaking countries must provide evidence of English language competency

Assessments

All units are assessed and internally quality assured by the centre and externally verified by OTHM. Assessment is criterion referenced, and learners must meet all learning outcomes and assessment criteria to achieve a pass.

  • Principles and Concepts of Strategy, The Management of Human Resources, Business Law for Managers, and Management Accounting and Decision Making are assessed through coursework

  • Marketing for Managers is assessed through approximately 2250 words of coursework plus a 10-minute presentation equivalent to 850 words

  • Business Start-up: Conception to Market is assessed through approximately 2500 words of coursework plus a 10-minute presentation equivalent to 850 words

  • The overall grading type for the qualification is Pass / Fail

Progression

Successful completion of this qualification provides access to a wide range of academic progression opportunities as well as improved employment prospects in business-related roles.

  • Progress to the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Business Management

  • Gain eligibility for direct entry into Year 3 of a three-year UK bachelor’s degree programme

  • Progress to university top-up or related higher business studies, subject to institutional entry requirements

  • Strengthen progression toward employment in private or public sector business environments
